This home is situated on the slopes of Hout Bay, with spectacular views of the harbour, The Sentinel and Kommetjie Lighthouse. Inhouse was asked to create a home that would reflect the family’s lifestyle and allow them to entertain friends and family over weekends.

In response, Inhouse split the entertainment areas – lounge, dining room and kitchen – from the bedrooms and bathrooms. The private areas were placed on ground level, with each bedroom having its own en-suite bathroom. A unique, custom-designed floating staircase links private and entertainment spaces. The upstairs kitchen, dining and lounge areas are open-plan.

The pitched roof maximizes the ceiling height while cove lighting illuminates the structure at night and provides soft lighting for the interior. The house can be opened up via folding, stacking doors that lead out onto a timber deck. A built-in fireplace and pool area flank the deck and allow the interior entertainment areas to extend to the exterior.

An oriental-style garden can be found below and is reached via the cantilevered concrete steps set into the boundary wall.
