The Cape Town City Council recently passed amendments regarding the off-street parking requirements for new developments, both commercial and residential. Previous planning regulations stipulated a specific number of bays were required depending on the land use, but this has been reduced in formally-demarcated PT1 and PT2 zones in an effort to incentivise the use of public transport and ride-shares.
The area affected stretches along the Atlantic Seaboard and the greater Cape Town metropolitan area, unlocking development potential on previously unviable sites.
If you are interested in finding out whether your project falls into one of these zones, get in touch.
